Role Overview

The Handyperson will be responsible for proactively undertaking the scheduled, preventative and responsive maintenance of all Leading Edge buildings, including our training facilities and our in-house student accommodation, ensuring all maintenance and repairs are carried out to a high standard.

Role Duties

  • Carry out basic maintenance repairs around the business, ensuring appropriate PPE is worn at all times.
  • Identify and report the need for specialist maintenance repairs.
  • Ensure general upkeep of all Leading Edge buildings, including painting and decoratin.
  • Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Repair plumbing, electrical and safety systems.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of outside spaces including the carpark and basic grounds work.
  • To be responsible for gritting necessary areas during inclement weather.
  • Inspect and PAT test all company electrical appliances, including but not limited to refrigerators, microwaves, stoves, ovens and coffee machines.
  • Ensure all lighting, fixtures and fittings are in good working order.
  • Undertake basic plumbing and carpentry requirements.
  • Maintaining property exterior through the different seasons.
  • Ensure all bins are emptied on a regular basis.
  • In the event of staff absences, drive the company minibus to shuttle students to and from the academy to their accommodation.

  • Core Competencies

  • Experience in basic plumbing, electrics and carpentry.
  • City and Guilds or NVQ qualification in an appropriate trade or an apprenticeship in a relevant discipline.
  • Ability to work with power equipment and general hand tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to resolve problems and adhere to health and safety guidelines.
  • Flexible and able to respond to emergency call outs at short notice.
  • Ability to deal with other contractors or maintenance workers.
  • A PAT certificate.
  • Being resourceful and self-motivated.
  • Exceptional organisation skills with the ability to multitask.
  • A clean and full UK driver’s licence.
