Alhama Campus

After completing Ground School at our Oxford Campus, students will move to our Alhama Campus in Murcia, Southern Spain for the Foundation Flying phase of their training.

Our fair-weather base enjoys 300+ days a year of glorious sunshine, providing optimum year-round flying conditions. Our campus at Alhama also offers our students a wealth of cultural opportunities and the high standard of professional facilities that we pride ourselves on.

Fleet & Training Facilities

Leading Edge Aviation has exclusive use of Alhama de Murcia airport, which features a full-length parallel taxiway, a modern operations & planning building with crew facilities and a substantial apron and hangar that will house our fleet of Diamond DA40 and DA42 aircraft.

An on-site engineering service will support operations so that students can make the most of the great flying opportunities the area has to offer. The location is ideal for foundation flight training with flat terrain and large open areas for our students to develop their flying skills in a perfect training environment.

Training Pathway

Students will complete Ground School at our Oxford Campus, which normally takes 28 weeks. They will then move to Alhama, for approximately 6 months for their Foundation Flying phase. Developing their skills on our glass-cockpit fleet of Diamond aircraft, this phase will culminate in their Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) skills test.

Students then return to our Oxford Campus and gain experience in the more challenging UK flying conditions prior to undertaking their Multi-Engine Instrument Rating (MEIR); Advanced Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (A-UPRT); Airline Pilot Standards Multi-Crew Co-operation (APS-MCC) and Graduate Services training to prepare them for their future airline careers. LEAL is one of the few training providers to offer dual UK CAA and EASA licences.

Accommodation

During their time at our Alhama Campus, students will live in first-class accommodation just minutes away in the prestigious Condado de Alhama Golf Resort.

The fully furnished, two-bedroom, air-conditioned, self-catering apartments benefit from 24-hour on-site security. Our students can enjoy a range of impressive social and leisure facilities including a Jack Nicklaus golf course; more than 20 swimming pools; outdoor and indoor gyms; 5 a side pitches; sports courts; bars; restaurants; shops and boutiques.

Local Area

The local town of Alhama and cities of Murcia and Cartagena are just a short drive from our campus and are also served by excellent public transport. Students can immerse themselves into the local culture, which is a fantastic introduction to their future careers in aviation & travel. Other local towns include Mazarron and Torrevieja and the city of Alicante is a modest drive away.

Local beaches are beautiful and plentiful and within easy reach, meaning downtime in between flights can be spent exploring the beautiful local coastlines and enjoying the water sports facilities.
