Before even considering if pilot training is worth it, choosing the right flight school is a major decision for both aspiring pilots and their families. At Leading Edge Aviation, we combine state-of-the-art training facilities, strong airline partnerships, and a supportive environment to help every pilot succeed from day one to a job offer.
Which Pilot Training Pathway?
There is no one-size-fits-all approach in getting to the flight deck. The routes we offer are:
Financing Pilot Training
Pilot training is a significant investment which is why we focus on transparency and clarity in our pricing. Our goal is simple: to ensure you can fund your training confidently without any surprises later down the line. We cannot give financial advice, so we suggest meeting with an independent advisor to make the most informed decision for your circumstances.
One of the key funding options available to eligible students is support through the Student Loans Company (SLC). Our Integrated LEAP course is an accredited degree which makes you eligible to apply for student finance from the SLC (Student Loan Company). You could be eligible for up to £19,070 in tuition loans (based on 2 years of tuition, only eligible if this is your first degree) as well as up to £19,514 in maintenance loans (the maximum value).

Commercial airline pilots are awarded very competitive salaries with earnings increasing alongside career progression. From becoming a First Officer to a Captain, aviation offers structured and merit-based progression. There is currently a global demand for skilled pilots, so training now can offer solid long-term financial prospects.

What are the minimum requirements to secure a space on a course?
For our Integrated course, you will need 5 GCSE’s at a grade 4 or above or the equivalent, including Maths, English and a Science and another 2 of your choice. If qualifications were completed overseas, but now have settled status in the UK, you can check the equivalent qualifications via the UK ENIC website.
Can you advise me on how to finance pilot training?
Unfortunately, we are not financial advisors and cannot legally give financial advice. If you are struggling to finance the course, you may wish to seek help from an independent financial advisor.

Can trainee pilots work whilst studying?
Integrated ATPL Ground School is a demanding six-month programme that requires significant dedication. To maximise their chances of success, students should plan to focus entirely on their studies and not rely on being able to work during this period.
Where is training conducted?
Ground School and Advanced Flight Training are completed at our Oxford Campus. Foundational Flight Training is completed at our Alhama de Murcia Campus.
What support do trainee pilots receive whilst training with Leading Edge Aviation?
Our Customer Experience Team supports students throughout their journey. From arriving at the Academy and settling into accommodation to providing wellbeing support and guidance throughout the course, our team is on hand whenever students need assistance. Scheduled leave is built into the programme, and we encourage students to ask for support whenever they need it.
Which training aircraft do you have?
Designed with student success in mind, our expanding fleet offers a structured progression from single-engine training to advanced multi-engine flying. By training on carefully selected aircraft equipped with modern avionics, trainee pilots benefit from greater consistency, enhanced safety, and seamless progression through the become a professional pilot. Is pilot training safe?
Safety underpins everything we do. Students train with experienced instructors using aircraft equipped with modern avionics, advanced simulators and structured operating procedures that reflect airline standards.
Is accommodation included in the course fee?
Yes. Accommodation is included within the Integrated LEAP course, along with transport to and from the Academy, uniform, training materials and many of the resources students need throughout their training. For Modular training, accommodation is the responsibility of the trainee.
What Additional costs do we need to prepare to budget for?
Students should budget for food, laundry, personal expenses and leisure activities. While every student’s spending is different, many budget approximately £250–£500 per month for living costs during training.
At our fair weather base, our state-of-the-art accommodation in Murcia also offers an optional half-board (Є160 per month) or full-board (Є250 per month) meal packages.
What happens if my son/daughter needs to withdraw due to long-term sickness during training?
If a student becomes medically unfit to continue flying, this may affect their ability to complete the course. For this reason, we strongly recommend Loss of Medical Insurance to help protect against this unlikely circumstance.
What happens if my son/daughter needs extra training?
Students enrolled on our Integrated LEAP course are eligible for our Training Guarantee, meaning additional training and regulatory costs are covered within the course fee, provided students remain committed, maintain a professional attitude and meet attendance requirements. Additional training is not provided in our Modular programme.
What qualifications will they have when they graduate?
Upon successful completion, students graduate with:
- Frozen ATPL
- Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL)
- Multi-Engine Instrument Rating (MEIR)
- APS MCC
- Advanced UPRT
- BSc (Hons) in Air Transport Management with Pilot Studies (Integrated LEAP only)
