Leading Edge Aviation Partners with Intuos to Advance Flight Training Safety and Standards Through Next-Generation Monitoring Technology

Leading Edge Aviation (LEAL) is proud to work with Intuos to implement cutting-edge In-flight monitor units (IFU) to their fleet of training aircraft. This innovative addition to LEALs flight operations will not only enhance safety in everyday training, but improve the overall training quality, reinforcing their commitment to delivering high-quality commercial pilot training.

Harnessing Flight Data to Deliver Operational Intelligence

Intuos’ InFlight Unit (IFU) is a compact telemetry device that automatically collects flight data and transmits it to a secure cloud platform during flight, enabling real-time fleet visibility, 3D flight replay and a safety event dashboard. Beyond GPS tracking, the IFU solution provides insights into aircraft dynamics and recorded safety events, helping instructors review flight performance and supporting safety and maintenance teams in identifying events that warrant further assessment.

The benefits of this technology are significant, providing instructors and standards checkers with a broader, objective evidence base to support decision-making, improve performance monitoring and ensure consistency across training operations.

Driving Improvements Across Training and Safety

As an EASA CS-STAN approved, fully removable system, the IFU can be fitted with minimal impact to the aircraft, requiring no permanent modifications or outsourced installation. With broad compatibility across aircraft types, the IFU provides a scalable safety enhancement for LEAL’s growing fleet of modern training aircraft, including its five recently added Piper Archer DXs.

Flight data monitoring systems have long been standard across commercial airline operations, helping to improve safety, consistency and performance. Through this partnership, LEAL is bringing those same benefits into the training environment, giving instructors access to objective, real-time flight data to support assessment, coaching and decision-making.

Dave Alexander, COO of LEAL said:

We are extremely proud to invest in these devices for our aircraft. The IFU from Intuos not only enhances our capability to unify standards across the organisation but also synthesises the technology conducive of real commercial flying operations, facilitating an immersive airline environment from day 1 of flight training.

Collating objective data sets from flight briefings can ensure that the quality of our training stays consistent and is underpinned by measurable performance data.

Carolina Gianardi, CEO of Intuos said:

We are proud to support Leading Edge Aviation as it strengthens its approach to training quality and safety. By connecting objective flight data with day-to-day operational decisions, we help instructors, safety teams and maintenance personnel build a shared understanding of aircraft use and the events that deserve attention. This partnership reflects our commitment to making operational intelligence accessible to flight schools and supporting safer, smarter aviation.

With ten devices already delivered to LEAL’s fair-weather training base near Murcia, we plan to equip every aircraft, the initiative will see more than 40 devices deployed across the organisation, reinforcing LEAL’s commitment to innovation, safety and the continuous advancement of pilot training standards.
