Our Graduates

Our Graduates

At Leading Edge Aviation, we offer two routes to becoming an airline-ready commercial pilot. A full-time integrated route ‘LEAP’ as well as a flexible modular option ‘MAP’. Both provide graduates with a ‘frozen’ Airline Transport Pilot Licence, the professional qualification you need to become an airline pilot.

However, at Leading Edge Aviation, we provide more than just the professional qualification and technical training. We’re a different kind of academy and we put our students at the heart of everything we do, we train our students to be future captains and blend the 9 pilot competencies throughout our syllabus. So, when our students graduate and achieve their first airline roles, we’re at the front of the queue to congratulate and celebrate with them.

As airlines step up recruitment post covid and the demand for travel increases, we are seeing placements increase across airlines such as Wizz Air, Ryanair, British Airways, Jet2 and easyjet to name a few! In addition to this, the industry is growing, multiple new airlines have launched in the UK; Flyr, JetBlue, Play and Boeing have recently identified a need for a new 41,000 aircraft by 2041. This is all great news for our graduates.

Recently, we were delighted to announce the exciting news that 11 of our graduates have secured roles at Wizz Air and have their start dates confirmed. We reached out to one of the graduates, Kieran to ask about his experience at Leading Edge and upcoming first officer role at Wizz Air: “Graduating from Leading Edge Aviation, I was lucky enough to be offered a job working within the academy. I found it really interesting understanding how the academy operates from a ‘behind the scenes’ perspective and it has been great to be able to help so many future students who want to join the school and begin working towards their dream. I am now very excited to begin my type rating with Wizz Air this month on the Airbus A320 and continue working towards my dream!”

Another graduate whose been working with us since completing her studies is Charlotte. Charlotte is currently working within our team of Training Advisors: “I finished my training with Leading Edge in May 2022. I had the most amazing time over the year but like everything, it had to come to an end. I was not quite ready to let go of my Oxford life at the airport, so I decided to apply for a job opportunity at Leading Edge. They kindly offered me a role where I am now advising aspiring future pilots on what programme would fit them best. Having gone through the process myself, I feel I can really apply my knowledge and experience to my work, which has been well received from future customers. I am grateful to Leading Edge for allowing me to take on this role, which keeps me involved in the aviation industry, still striving, and applying for those airline jobs at the same time.”

Whether our students are following the integrated or the modular route, they all have access to our Graduate Services. This includes an extensive 3-day course that covers a range of topics such as airline applications, personal development plans, CV workshops and interview techniques/mock interviews. Designed to best prepare our graduates to secure a role with an airline, they will also be kept up to date with recruitment opportunities and our graduate services team are always on hand to support with applications or answer any questions a graduate may have.

The Graduate Services team all have established careers within the aviation industry, including current pilots, giving them the perspective and insight into the recruitment process from an airlines standpoint. This is hugely beneficial for our graduates as every element of the 3-day course is tailored to an airline specific interview in order to maximise their strengths and chances of securing a role.
