Leading Edge Aviation is delighted to unveil the expansion of its successful integrated frozen Airline Transport Pilot Licence (fATPL) LEAP training programme at its Alhama campus, in the Murcia, southern Spain, starting in September 2024.

The expansion of courses to the Alhama campus was officially announced at the PCL Madrid event on 16th March 2024, signalling a major milestone for Leading Edge Aviation. It opens doors for both European and UK students to begin full integrated pilot training at its Alhama campus, which is already known for its foundation flight training excellence.

The Leading Edge Airline Preparation (LEAP) course is designed to offer aspiring pilots a comprehensive pathway to achieving the fATPL qualification they need to become an airline First Officer. The first course starts on 26th September 2024 and there is an additional intake in January 2025.  The course offers both single (EASA or UK CAA) and dual (EASA and UK CAA) licence options, catering to the varied needs of future pilots.

Andy McFarlane, CEO of Leading Edge Aviation, expressed his enthusiasm for the programme’s expansion: “Expanding our top-tier training programme to the Alhama campus in Spain reflects our dedication to making high-quality pilot training more accessible. We’re committed to preparing the next generation of pilots with the comprehensive skills, knowledge, and mindset needed to thrive and excel in the rapidly evolving aviation industry. The excellent flying conditions in Alhama, combined with our expertly designed curriculum enable our students to become successful pilots and future Captains”.

The Alhama campus enhances the LEAP training experience with top-tier facilities, including exclusive airport use, newly built state-of-the-art ground school, and flight training in Robin DR400, DA40 and DA42 aircraft, DA42 simulators, and innovative virtual reality tech, all set in a location with optimal flying conditions and extensive leisure amenities.

This exciting expansion does not only represent an expansion in terms of extending accessibility to Leading Edge’s innovative ‘whole pilot’ training to European students but also reinforces Leading Edge Aviation’s commitment to cultivating a new generation of pilots, ready for the future demands of aviation.
